How to Install a Door Phone:

  • Remove the battery-compartment lid from the bottom of the doorbell-speaker panel. In some cases, a screw on the lid must be removed first with a Phillips jeweler's screwdriver
  • Adjust the switches inside the battery compartment, if any are present, to a pre-set pattern with the tip of a flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver. Remember this pattern for setting the receiver-speaker panel later
  • Insert a battery or batteries (depending on the manufacturer) into the battery compartment. Close the lid and reattach the screw if one is present
  • Screw the doorbell-speaker panel to the side of the door at about chest level (or onto the door) using wood screws and a Phillips screwdriver
  • Remove the battery-compartment lid from the bottom of the receiver-speaker panel in the same manner as Step 1. Adjust the switches inside the battery compartment, if any are present, to the pre-set pattern remembered, with the tip of a flat-edged jeweler's screwdriver
  • Insert a battery or batteries (depending on the manufacturer) into the battery compartment. Close the lid and reattach the screw if one is present
  • Place the receiver-speaker panel in a convenient location -- for example, your kitchen's breakfast bar or a night stand next to your bed

A wireless intercom system is an electronic piece of equipment that allows people to communicate via radio waves. Wireless intercom systems are manufactured in numerous styles and designs. Some intercom systems are advertised as a wireless system. However, their communication capability is accomplished through AC electrical building wiring

  • Function: There are a variety of wired intercom systems that require wiring throughout the walls that extend from one room to another for them to work. However, wireless intercom systems are easy to install because they have no wires that connect the intercom units. Therefore, a wireless intercom system can be installed and working within minutes of taking the unit out of the box. Some wireless intercom systems consist of one or more channels. When there is more than one channel, conversations can take place by linking several intercoms. With wireless intercom systems, conversations can also be heard by people within a certain range who have comparable devices such as baby monitors, scanners, cordless phones or similar wireless intercom systems. Conversations can be heard due to the use of unrestricted public wireless frequencies. However, privacy can be attained for wireless intercom systems when the auditory stream is encrypted. There are also manufacturers who make wireless intercom systems already equipped with encryption to be used by the sports industry, military and various corporate customers
  • Benefits: Wireless intercom systems are very convenient and make it very easy to communicate with family members from one room to another while eliminating all the shouting. They generally have a communication range of about 1000 feet. They are an easy and convenient method to communicate with or monitor a loved one in an entirely different room in your home.
