How to Buy Subwoofer Speakers?

Mogic Cartoon Panda Mini Phone Subwoofer Speakers for iPod iPhone 4

  • Look for an active subwoofer for use in a stereo system
  • Consider active or passive subwoofers for use in a home theater system
  • Look for clean, tight, accurate bass for music reproduction
  • Look for realistic dynamics for home theater use
  • Read reviews in audio magazines, like AudioReview.com, and elsewhere on the Internet to help narrow your list
  • Take a few familiar CDs to stores you visit. Choose pieces with prominent bass information
  • Arrange to listen to a speaker at home through your own system if it sounds good to you in the store. Ask the dealer to provide appropriate cables if you don't already have them
  • After you've found the best subwoofer in your price range, listen to your system without the subwoofer. If you perceive the same amount of bass but a collapsed soundstage, you've made a good choice

How to Make Speaker Brackets?

Mogic Cartoon Panda Mini Phone Subwoofer Speakers for iPod iPhone 4

  • Place one 12-inch piece of wood directly against the end of another 12-inch piece. It will essentially look like an L
  • Attach the two pieces. Put a bead of glue on the butted ends. Then sink in one 3-inch screw to hold it together. Make sure the ends are flush. You will do this again with another two pieces of wood so that you ultimately have two L's
  • Adjust your miter saw to make a 45-degree cut
  • Cut two angled pieces of wood. Line up the end of another piece of wood with the saw blade and cut it to a 45-degree angle. Turn it around and do the exact same thing. Repeat this process on the other piece of wood
  • Attach the angled pieces of wood flush with the bottoms of the L shapes. You will create two L's with a piece of wood sticking off of the bottom of the L away from the base of the letter at a 45-degree angle. This extra piece of wood enables you to securely mount the speaker bracket at two points, then place the speaker itself inside the L shape.
  • Put wood glue on the 45-degree angle and place the slanted end against the back of the L so that the angle opens upward. From the back of the L put a screw in to more securely attach the angled piece.
  • Once you have done this on both brackets, you will notice that the slanted ends that are not touching the L's of the 45-degree angles now match perfectly with the top of the L's
